Ragdoll Facts

DAILY LIFE OF A RAGDOLL:

Ragdolls are playful animals who will enjoy having toys left out for them. They're not super high climbers so cat trees can be low to the ground. Ragdolls don't require a lot of extras in the way of exercise. You can expect them to spend a lot of time lying around, with short bursts of play and activity between frequent naps.

RAGDOLL PERSONALITY TRAITS:

They are patient, gentle, incredibly social, calm, quiet, loyal, smart and easy to train, and playful. Some Ragdolls absolutely love to be held and will lounge on you as long as possible . They tend to go limp when picked up - hence the Ragdoll name.  Ragdolls are a great fit for families with young children and other pets.

LIFE EXPECTANCY:

Ragdolls will live up to 15 years! They will be part of your family for a very long time.

RAGDOLL SIZE:

  • Ragdolls are a large breed and will reach 10-20 lbs. Males are heavier than females.

  • They will reach 9-11 inches tall, and are usually 17-21 inches long.

  • Ragdolls mature slower than other breeds and most Ragdolls don't reach their full size until they are 3-4 years old

THE RAGDOLL COAT:

  • Ragdolls have a long, soft, silky coat.

  • They are a lower shedding breed as they do not have an undercoat.

  • While Ragdolls are not considered to be a "hypoallergenic" cat, many people with allergies can still be around them.

RAGDOLL PATERNS/COLORS:

  • There are five types of Ragdoll coat patterns: colorpoint, bicolor, mitted, lynx point, and tortie point.

  • Ragdoll colors include seal, chocolate, blue, lilac, red, and cream.

  • Ragdolls are born all white and their color starts to show up at about 1 week old. By 3 weeks old their pattern is evident. Their color and patterns will continue to darken over the next few years.
